The Amazing Race’s Sri Lanka leg brought a major shake-up as teams voted to U-Turn two rivals, joining Doug and Dylan, who were automatically assigned the penalty after finishing last in the previous leg. All three teams had to complete both sides of the Detour, opening the door for others to gain ground.

The votes sent Michelle and Matt and Daisha and Dalton to the U-Turn. Michelle and Matt’s wife, Michelle, was upset by the result and said they would no longer help other teams. Matt, by contrast, said he did not take the vote personally.

For the Detour, teams could either sell fish to earn 5,000 rupees or dry salted, gutted fish on coconut-fiber mats. The leg also included a bus trip to Colombo, a Roadblock involving deliveries by handcart, and a tuk-tuk polo challenge. In the latter, one racer drove while their teammate tried to score with a mallet, all while defensive tuk-tuks attempted to block them.

Ali and Joanna found an express bus after initially boarding a slower local service, helping them take first place. Anwar and Andrea finished second, while Michelle and Matt came in third after scoring in the polo challenge on their first attempt.

Doug and Dylan finished last and were eliminated. The grandfather-grandson team had been struggling to climb the standings, but Doug, 72, and his grandson Dylan, 18, made it through to the end of the leg before Phil announced their departure.
