Driver/">Adam Driver says he is no longer expecting to play Kylo Ren, also known as Ben Solo, in another Star Wars project. Asked on “The Rich Eisen Show” whether he might return, Driver replied, “It’s over” and added, “No more ‘Star Wars.’” He later said he thinks “the ship has sailed” on the proposed film about the character.
Driver and director Steven Soderbergh developed the standalone project over several years with writers Scott Burns and Rebecca Blunt. Driver said they completed a script that Lucasfilm liked, but Disney executives Bob Iger and Alan Bergman rejected it because they did not see how Ben Solo could be alive.
Driver said he would be open to the project if the studio wanted to revive it, while stressing that the decision was not his to make. He also described the response from fans as “pretty incredible,” including a campaign in which supporters flew a “Save The Hunt for Ben Solo” banner over Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.
Soderbergh had expressed a similar view in April, saying the film would have happened if it was going to happen.
