BAFTA has selected 21 emerging creatives for its 2026 Breakthrough U.K. cohort, spanning film, television, documentary and unscripted work, and games. The annual talent-development program is supported by Netflix and is now in its 13th year.
Participants receive year-round career support, mentoring, networking opportunities and full BAFTA membership. The television cohort includes actors Ella Bruccoleri, known for The Other Bennet Sister, Izuka Hoyle of Prisoner and Sophie Stone of Falling. It also features Emmerdale writer Yassmin Abdel-Magied, production designer Philippa Mumford, and creator and executive producer Tom Cousins.
Among the film selections are writer-director Louis Paxton, whose project is The Incomer, and Ish co-writer and director Imran Perretta. The documentary and unscripted group includes Myrid Carten, writer-director of A Want in Her, as well as presenter and producer Chris Lynch and producer and reporter Runako Celina.
Five games creatives were chosen, including writer and director Eloise Singer, game director and developer Husban Siddiqi, and creative director Kate Killick. The full games group also includes creator and designer Niru Fekri-Arnold and performer Tom McKay.
BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip said the program aims to help creatives across the three screen sectors build lasting careers through support and connections. Netflix is backing the initiative for the seventh consecutive year as part of its Generation N effort to develop emerging and mid-career talent in the U.K.
BAFTA said more than 330 creatives have taken part in Breakthrough globally since its launch. Alumni include Florence Pugh, Tom Holland, Jessie Buckley, Josh O’Connor, Bella Ramsey, Paapa Essiedu and Letitia Wright. The organization is expected to announce its U.S. Breakthrough cohort later in November.
