Bethesda Game Studios has revealed that the sixth mainline game in The Elder Scrolls series is titled The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel. The announcement and logo appeared in a video message from longtime franchise director Todd Howard, released as part of Bethesda’s 40th anniversary celebrations on Tuesday.
Sentinel is a city in Hammerfell, a province on Tamriel, the continent where the series is set. Hammerfell lies west of Cyrodiil, the setting of 2006’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and southwest of Skyrim. Sentinel will follow The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, released in 2011 and still Bethesda’s most-played game.
Bethesda first announced The Elder Scrolls 6 at its E3 2018 conference. The game entered active production in 2023, following the release of Starfield. Howard said in 2021 that he expected the game might arrive 15 to 17 years after Skyrim, meaning players could still be several years away from its release.
