Nicki Minaj marked Election Day by posting an apparently AI-generated image of Chucky in a pink suit and a pin reading “Vote RED.” The post drew a response from Don Mancini, creator of the Child’s Play franchise, who rejected the portrayal of the killer doll as a Republican supporter.

“IMPOSTER,” Mancini wrote in a reply to Minaj’s post, adding that “CHUCKY IS PART OF THE BLUE WAVE THAT WILL WASH AWAY ALL THE CORRUPTION.” In a separate post, he said: “Chucky has a trans kid. Chucky protects the dolls. Chucky is anti-ICE.” He also shared an image of a Chucky doll with blue hair, writing: “Too bad, Nicki! No AI, by the way!”

Minaj has previously used Chucky in posts on social media. In January, she shared an image of the character while criticizing journalist Don Lemon over his reporting on an anti-ICE protest.

Mancini launched the franchise with 1988’s Child’s Play and later created the Chucky television series, which ran for three seasons from 2021 to 2024. The show features Chucky referring to his offspring Glen/Glenda as “a queer kid.” The series was canceled in September 2024. The most recent feature film in the franchise was 2017’s Cult of Chucky.
