The UK’s Creative Cities Convention (CCC) will hold its 2027 edition in Glasgow, taking the event to Scotland as the TV Festival prepares to move south after 50 years. The convention is backed by Screen Scotland and will be staged at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on May 19 and 20.

The CCC has expanded to two full days in May. Mobeen Azhar will return as host, while BBC broadcaster Kirsty Wark will take part as a guest interviewer. The Creative Skills Summit will also return for its third year, hosted by presenter and journalist Jameel Shariff.

The convention’s central question will be: “If British commissioners are buying less, who else is buying?” Further details are expected to be announced later.

Creative director Sarah Wood said Glasgow had been the intended location for the 2020 convention, which was cancelled because of the pandemic. She said the 2027 event would be larger than previous editions. Screen Scotland interim executive director David Smith said hosting the industry in Glasgow would provide an opportunity to highlight Scotland’s screen and media sectors and explore opportunities for UK production businesses.
