Easy Tiger, the Australian production company behind Colin From Accounts, has secured the television rights to Dervla McTiernan’s psychological thriller Three Reasons For Revenge. Shaun Grant, whose credits include The Narrow Road to the Deep North and Snowtown, is attached to write the series.
The rights were acquired following what sources described as a “heated auction.” Easy Tiger will now take the project to market; no broadcaster or streaming service is attached. The deal was negotiated by Dan Conaway and Tom Ishizuka of literary agency Writers House.
Published earlier this year, McTiernan’s latest novel reached the top of Australia’s bestseller charts. Its story follows three seemingly unrelated people drawn into a deadly web of deceit and unresolved wounds after mysterious gifts arrive at their homes in Melbourne. Each gift is tailored to its recipient and threatens to upend their life.
Grant said he immediately imagined the book as a television series when he first read it, describing it as a carefully crafted thriller full of surprises. Easy Tiger CEO Rob Gibson also praised McTiernan’s plotting and said Grant was well suited to adapt the novel.
Several of McTiernan’s previous works have been optioned for screen, including her debut, The Ruin, and the thrillers What Happened to Nina? and The Murder Rule. Easy Tiger’s other productions include The Twelve, Scrublands, Territory, Rake, Jack Irish and Saving Mr Banks. Colin From Accounts concluded after three seasons.
