As Americans voted in contests for all 435 House seats, 35 Senate seats and a range of prominent state offices, political commentators shared their reactions across social media, television and podcasts.

Donald Trump posted on Truth Social about Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, making a series of personal attacks against him. Later, during an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Trump discussed Iran, claiming its military capabilities had been heavily weakened and describing a recent strike as a “minor attack,” not a war. He also said the country’s nuclear capability had been eliminated and referred to the surveillance capabilities of the U.S. Space Force.

Twitch streamer Hasan Piker used X to question whether support for MAGA remained strong. He wondered whether voters would continue backing Trump after what he described as reversed campaign promises and negative real wage growth, and asked how much racial polarization and hostile rhetoric would influence the vote.

On the Election Day edition of “Pod Save America,” the hosts expressed confidence in Democratic prospects. Jon Lovett said that failing to win both chambers of Congress would count as a loss, citing his criticism of the president, the war, tariffs and the Republican-controlled Congress.

On MS NOW’s “Morning Joe,” Joe Scarborough criticized Republicans’ closing arguments as “astronomically stupid.” He argued that Republicans were emphasizing claims about communism rather than focusing on the costs of gas, diesel and groceries, and said he did not think that approach would produce a victory.
