HBO has renewed Sharon Horgan’s comedy Youth for a second season, the network announced Monday. The series follows Alex, a 50-year-old divorced woman who tries to revive her dating life while parenting her son, whom she considers not quite grown up.

Horgan said she was pleased to have another opportunity to make the show and thanked viewers for their response. HBO programming executive Amy Gravitt praised the series for blending comedy and emotion and said the network was looking forward to bringing its ensemble back.

The eight-episode first season also starred Rupert Friend as Patrick, Sharlene Whyte as Sam, Aran Murphy as Ruari and Ribbie Gee Frank. HBO said casting details for Season 2 will be announced later.

Horgan executive-produces Youth with Faye Dorn, Jim Kleverweis and director Dawn Shadforth.
