Isabelle Fuhrman is set to star in Heartache, a dramatic sci-fi thriller from filmmaker Beth Fletcher, who is making her feature directorial debut. Production is currently underway in Massachusetts.

The story follows a woman determined to find love in a near-future society where heartbreak has become lethal. As she searches for intimacy, her pursuit becomes increasingly bound up with obsession and control.

Fletcher said she wanted to build a world where being alone is safer and explore what people are willing to risk to stay together. Screenwriter Mark Ashin praised Fuhrman’s performance as Kara, describing it as both grounded and charged.

Ashin and his Page 8 Pictures are producing the film with Sionne Elise, Dylan Matlock and JP Ouellette of Circa 1888. SJ Allocco-St. Germain is handling casting, and Fuhrman is also an executive producer.

Fuhrman is also set to appear in Netflix’s sports drama The 99ers, about the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which is slated to premiere in 2027. Her credits include the Orphan films and The Novice, for which she received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Female Lead.
