Rajinikanth’s “Jailer 2” will arrive on Prime Video on November 12, following a theatrical run that the streamer described as record-breaking in India and overseas. The film has grossed $86 million so far, making it the highest-grossing Tamil-language film of all time, according to the supplied report.

The sequel will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada in India and in more than 240 countries and territories. The original “Jailer” is already on Prime Video, where both films will be available together.

Nelson Dilipkumar directs the action-crime film, produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. Rajinikanth reprises his role as retired prison officer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the score.

The story continues after the first film’s ending: a politically connected crime syndicate with an overseas reach threatens Muthuvel’s family, pulling him out of retirement. As former enemies return and new alliances emerge, he acts alone to protect his family and regain control.

The cast includes cameos from Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan, Vijay Sethupathi and Shivarajkumar. Other cast members include SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, Ramya Krishnan, Namo Narayana and Yogi Babu.

Prime Video said the sequel would join the original film on the service after its theatrical performance. Nelson said the creative team aimed to expand the story, action and emotional stakes while building on audiences’ connection with Muthuvel Pandian.
