Mckenna Grace says she currently declines acting roles that require nudity or highly sexual material, partly because she hopes to play a Disney princess on screen someday. She shared her approach with Cosmopolitan during the press tour for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
“I definitely don’t do nudity or very hypersexual things,” Grace told the magazine, adding that she respects performers who take on such roles but finds them frightening. She said that may change in the future, and stressed that she does not only play wholesome characters: in Scream, her character is killed by Ghostface.
Grace plays Maysilee Donner in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which is due in theaters on Nov. 20. She also stars as Daphne in Netflix’s live-action Scooby-Doo reboot series. Her most recent big-screen appearance was in Scream 7.
The article also recalls Amy Adams’s decision to turn down a sexually explicit Saturday Night Live sketch after starring as Giselle in Enchanted. Andy Samberg later said Adams declined because young fans of the film might see the sketch. Adams returned to the role in the 2022 sequel Disenchanted.
Amanda Seyfried has also spoken about avoiding sex scenes, saying in September that she had passed on a show because of how often it required them. She said she was uncomfortable with the prospect of being naked with a stranger, while leaving open the possibility that her perspective could change later.
