MS NOW is set to incorporate two local watch parties into its Election Night coverage, aiming to blend red and purple perspectives while chronicling what could be a significant blue shift. Backed by Versant Media, the news outlet will host these special events in Houston, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia. These gatherings are designed to allow followers in those states to gather at Members Lounges and connect with other subscribers of the network's new streaming service.
Marcus Mabry, senior vice president of content strategy at MS NOW, stated that these lounges serve to bring the growing community together in person during moments when politics and culture dominate the national conversation. He described the events as a powerful extension of the connections members have already established with the outlet's journalists and each other.
The Atlanta event will take place at Painted Pin, a boutique bowling alley and entertainment venue located in the Buckhead neighborhood, while the Houston gathering is scheduled for the Rooftop Cinema Club. These initiatives represent an effort to strengthen MS NOW's streaming property, which launched in September. The service provides not only bespoke programming but also interactive sessions with prominent anchors and reporters, alongside tools designed to help members find one another and access valuable news.
Antonia Hylton, anchor of the weekend program "The Assignment," will report live from the Atlanta watch party. Meanwhile, Alicia Menendez, anchor of "On the Line," will be stationed at the Houston event. These live reports aim to integrate local perspectives with MS NOW's broader Election Night coverage, which will be led by Rachel Maddow starting at 6 p.m. on the outlet's linear network.
This is not the first time MS NOW has utilized Members Lounges for major events. The network previously hosted a lounge in Dallas during the Republican National Convention in September and featured another at the Power to the People concert in Maryland last October.
