Neve Campbell has confirmed that she will return as Sidney Prescott in “Scream 8.” The actor shared the news during an interview with the Associated Press on Monday while promoting her role in Netflix’s “Black Doves.”
Campbell included the film among her upcoming projects, saying it was in development and confirming, “I’ll be in it.” She declined to discuss what Sidney’s next encounter with Ghostface might involve.
The announcement follows the success of “Scream 7,” in which Sidney survived another attack by the masked killers. The 2025 film opened to $97.2 million worldwide, the biggest opening in the franchise’s 30-year history, and went on to earn $208 million worldwide against a $45 million budget. Spyglass Media and distributor Paramount Pictures began developing the next installment after its box-office performance.
Campbell has appeared in six of the seven previous films. She did not take part in 2023’s “Scream 6” following a contract dispute, saying at the time that the offer did not reflect the value she had brought to the franchise. She returned for “Scream 7” after reportedly receiving a $7 million salary.
