Finecut has sold Park Hoon-jung’s action noir Tristes Tropiques to distributors in several territories. Well Go USA acquired the film for North America, while Swift Distribution will handle French-speaking territories, Alfa Pictures Spain and Andorra, Blue Swan Entertainment Italy, and CaiChang International Taiwan.

The film is scheduled for a Korean theatrical release on November 25. Well Go USA has previously acquired Park’s The Witch films and The Childe. The company’s president and CEO, Doris Pfardrescher, said the new film continues its relationship with the director and described it as combining his signature style, emotion, and action.

The latest deals add to sales previously announced for Mongolia, Poland, the Indian subcontinent, Indonesia, and Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Tristes Tropiques follows young assassins trained by a master who rules a tropical rainforest. After the master is found dead, the group faces mutual distrust as the killer’s identity remains unknown. The cast includes Lee Sin-young, Park Yu-rim, Kim Myung-min, Park Hae-soo, Austin Lin, Chen Yi-Wen, and Wang Po-Chieh.

The film has received awards at genre festivals, including the Silver Raven at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival and the Grand Prix Nouveau Genre Canal+ at L’Étrange Festival in Paris. It was also selected as the closing film of the London Korean Film Festival.
