Pierce Brosnan has voiced support for Callum Turner as a possible next James Bond, describing the actor as “so strong” in a new interview with Vanity Fair. Brosnan said he is following the casting news as an audience member and is eager to learn who will take on the role.
Brosnan played 007 in four films between 1995 and 2002. He and Turner appeared together in the 2017 film The Only Living Boy in New York. Brosnan said he admires the actors being considered, adding that they each bring their own voice, physique and screen presence, as well as the potential for a long career.
Variety has reported that Jack Lowden, known for Slow Horses, is another frontrunner, with final auditions believed to be taking place in London. Josh O’Connor and Jacob Elordi have also previously been mentioned as possibilities.
Asked what advice he would offer the next Bond actor, Brosnan wished him “life and strength and courage” and said he was looking forward to the announcement. He also praised director Denis Villeneuve’s involvement with the spy franchise, saying he expects Villeneuve’s visual approach and storytelling to make an impact.
