Nathan Johnson, recently elected attorney general of Texas, had a career in music long before entering politics. He composed scores for 67 episodes of “Dragon Ball Z” and five films in the franchise, he said in a post on his official Facebook page.

Johnson’s film credits include “Dragon Ball Z: The World’s Strongest,” “The Tree of Might,” “Broly — Second Coming,” “Fusion Reborn” and “Wrath of the Dragon.” In an interview with Texas Sen. Taylor Rehmet, he described scoring the series and movies as a creative outlet and a way to connect with a culture few people had the chance to experience.

Johnson also recalled that his young son watched him work, reacting to the on-screen action and calling out, “Daddy Goku!” The experience, he said, earned him street cred with his children and their friends.

Johnson won a seat in the Texas Senate in 2018. His website says that over four legislative sessions, he passed 134 bills into law, focusing on constitutional principles and government accountability.
