Tovah Feldshuh, who portrays Bina, the mother of Rabbi Noah Roklov played by Adam Brody in the Netflix series Nobody Wants This, has firmly stated that tensions are not rising among the cast and creators. This clarification comes after Feldshuh publicly took issue with Brody's stance on major world issues, specifically his support for a free Palestine.
On Threads, Feldshuh addressed the situation directly, insisting that while profound differences of opinion exist, they should not be conflated with interpersonal tension. She emphasized that none of these political disagreements are being brought onto the set and expressed her deep enjoyment of filming the show. Furthermore, she voiced her hope that the production will be chosen to continue for a fourth season.
The controversy stems from comments Brody made in September to GQ, where he described the situation in Gaza as genocide and called for a free Palestine. He noted that the conflict has reached a breaking point and expressed hope that a future administration could correct policies contributing to the misery. Following these remarks, series creator Erin Foster stated on her podcast that while she loves Brody, she disagrees with his views.
In response to the broader discourse, Feldshuh told the New York Post that accusing Jewish people of genocide is comparable to tactics used by Hitler, arguing that it wrongly turns victims into perpetrators. Despite these public disagreements and the fact that the show has not yet been officially renewed, Foster has previously indicated she has more story to tell in a potential fourth season. The series, inspired by Foster's relationship with her husband Simon Tikhman, follows agnostic podcaster Joanne Williams, played by Kristen Bell, as she navigates an unexpected romance with Brody's character and decides to convert to Judaism.
