Variety has published its 10 Comics to Watch list for 2026, highlighting performers working across stand-up, television, online comedy and musical satire. This year’s lineup includes Wally Baram, Olivia Carter, Aaron Chen, Adam Friedland, Kyle Gordon, Shapel Lacey, Eilise Patton, Usama Siddiquee, Josh Ocean Thomas and Lucas Zelnick.
The magazine’s annual franchise has run since 2000. Its inaugural group included Zach Galifianakis, Maria Bamford, Patton Oswalt and Louis C.K. Variety also previously named Nate Bargatze and Nikki Glaser, who are now among the world’s top-selling stand-up comedians, as Comics to Watch.
The 2026 selections reflect a range of approaches to comedy. Baram is known for her role in “Overcompensating,” while Gordon makes musical satire and Friedland hosts a talk show. Zelnick has developed a large online following through viral crowd-work clips, according to Variety.
The list also features endorsements from established comedians. Nikki Glaser praised Carter’s precise writing and confident stage presence, while Ali Wong highlighted Chen’s unusual, unpredictable style. Tim Robinson called Patton’s characters fresh, and Hasan Minhaj described Siddiquee as a performer who has built his career through years of work on stage.
The selected comedians are scheduled to perform at a New York Comedy Festival showcase on Nov. 12 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Times Square. Variety says ticket information is available through the festival’s website.
