HBO Max’s legal drama War has premiered with Sienna Miller portraying Carla Duval, a scorned wife whose face may be familiar to viewers. Miller has built a varied career across high-profile films and television productions.

Her film credits include American Sniper, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and 21 Bridges. She also appeared in Jack Ryan: Ghost War alongside John Krasinski and Wendell Pierce.

Miller’s television work includes her portrayal of Tippi Hedren in The Girl, a role that earned her a BAFTA nomination for best leading actress. The television movie dramatizes the relationship between Alfred Hitchcock and Hedren during the filming of The Birds. Miller has also appeared in Curb Your Enthusiasm, starred in the miniseries Anatomy of a Scandal and led the short-lived police procedural Keen Eddie.

The actress has previously spoken about a difficult period in her career after her 2004 film Alfie. In an interview with Esquire UK, cited by Entertainment Weekly, Miller said she had “sabotaged things” and “burnt a lot of bridges.” She connected the downturn to intense tabloid attention surrounding her romantic life and said she believed some people stopped casting her because of public disapproval.

Miller has since continued working steadily. She is also a mother of three: one child from her former relationship with actor Tom Sturridge and two with her current fiancé, Oli Green.

War, starring Miller and Dominic West, is now streaming on HBO Max.
