Blumhouse and Atomic Monster have renamed their combined company Blumhouse Atomic, two years after the companies merged. The Blumhouse and Atomic Monster labels will remain distinct, each with its own creative team overseeing film and television projects.
Since the merger, the combined company has recorded more than $2.5 billion in worldwide box office against production budgets totaling less than $330 million, according to the figures provided. Its films have earned more than $1 billion in each of 2025 and 2026. The 2026 releases have brought in nearly $1.3 billion on production budgets of less than $70 million, including Obsession and Backrooms. The films became the highest-grossing titles for their respective distributors, Focus Features and A24.
Co-founder Jason Blum described the new name as a natural next step for the merged company. He pointed to the two studios’ horror properties, including The Conjuring, Insidious and Saw, and said the company is exploring opportunities to take stories into television, games and live experiences. Blum also cited a new Saw chapter as an example of the collaboration between the companies.
Co-founder James Wan said the company aims to support new filmmakers and help them build long-term creative relationships. The article names Kane Parsons, Curry Barker, Josh Giuliano and Dylan Clark among the filmmakers the company is working with.
The company’s 2027 slate includes River, The Revenge of La Llorona, The Exorcist: Martyrs, Anything But Ghosts, Paranormal Activity, Molepeople, Blair Witch, Sleepover and Seasons. Its other projects include television series The Rainmaker, Scarpetta and the Worst Ever franchise, as well as the game Grave Seasons and a Paranormal Activity production on Broadway.
Blumhouse Atomic has also made a first-look deal with Divide/Conquer to develop genre films. The company acquired the rights to Saw last year; Lionsgate retains its existing ownership and distribution rights, while Content Partners and Mark Burg hold interests in the existing film library. Blum and Wan are also working on new installments of Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch.
