Jenny Groom is joining Amazon as Head of MGM Alternative, taking on a role previously held by Barry Poznick, who left about a year ago. Groom is expected to start at the end of November.
Groom will oversee franchises including Survivor, Shark Tank and The Voice, along with MGM Alternative’s format library. Her remit also includes developing new formats and series for Prime Video and for other broadcasters and streaming services.
MGM Alternative’s production portfolio includes shows in The Real Housewives franchise and On Patrol: Live. The division also encompasses Evolution Media, producer of The Real Housewives of Orange County, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump Rules and E!’s Botched, as well as Big Fish Entertainment, behind History’s Greatest Mysteries, HGTV’s Ugliest House in America and TLC’s Seeking Brother Husband.
The division was moved under Amazon MGM Studios in 2025. Jenn Levy, Amazon MGM Studios’ Head of Nonfiction, announced Groom’s appointment in a note to colleagues, saying her experience on both the buying and selling sides of the business would support MGM Alternative’s unscripted plans.
Groom most recently served as EVP of Unscripted Development at BBC Studios, which she joined in January 2025. Her work there included Nation’s Dumbest, renewed for a second season at Fox, and Dancing with the Stars spinoff The Next Pro.
Before BBC Studios, Groom spent nearly two decades at NBCUniversal as EVP of Entertainment Unscripted Content. Her credits there included developing The Traitors and Love Island, as well as work on Jimmy Fallon’s Password, That’s My Jam and the Jane Lynch-hosted reboot of Weakest Link.
