Lee Sung Jin has launched Lila Pictures under his renewed overall deal with Netflix, where the company is developing two television projects. He has also appointed Hyunji Ward as senior vice president of film and television. Ward previously worked at UTA and Dakota Johnson’s TeaTime Pictures.

The first project is “The Only Child,” a limited drama starring Ali Wong. Ava Wong Davies will write the series, and Wong will also produce. She is set to play the mother of a professional archer preparing to compete for her first gold medal. Wong previously worked with Lee on the first season of “Beef.”

The second project, “Citizen’s Arrest,” is a drama series created by Gene Hong, a writer and producer on the second season of “Beef.” Its premise centers on two longtime friends and neighbors whose fixation on solving a local crime offers an escape from personal crises they are not ready to confront.

Lee said Lila Pictures would work with Netflix and collaborators including Wong and Hong. The company’s name comes from a Sanskrit term that can be interpreted as “the divine play,” he said.
