Maya Hawke is set to star in Legendary Entertainment and Hasbro Entertainment’s live-action Magic: The Gathering movie, according to Deadline. The actor’s role has not been disclosed, though the project is expected to feature an ensemble cast and Hawke’s part is described as a key one.

Matt Johnson will direct the film and is writing it with Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald. Legendary and Hasbro are also planning to build a film and television universe based on the franchise.

The companies reportedly made Hawke their first offer to join the project, rather than asking her to audition. She is known for Stranger Things, as well as films including Inside Out 2, Asteroid City and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
