Melanie Lynskey has disputed online claims that she earned millions of dollars for her role as Rose on Two and a Half Men. The Yellowjackets actress said she appeared in 63 of the sitcom’s 262 episodes and was paid far less than an Instagram commenter’s estimate of $200,000 to $300,000 per episode.

Lynskey said her starting pay was $20,000 per episode, with what she recalled as a 5% increase each season. More than half of her appearances were in the first two seasons, she added. Her highest paycheck on the show, she believes, was about $43,000 for an episode in the final season.

Those figures were before deductions for agents, managers, business managers and taxes, Lynskey said, estimating that she took home around half of her pay. She described the work and income as valuable, saying they helped cover her mortgage and bills while allowing her to take roles in independent films and build her career. However, she called the idea that she made millions from the series inaccurate.

Lynskey was a series regular from the first season through the third, then appeared as a guest star. Her comments followed co-star Holland Taylor’s recent remarks that the show had not paid her well. Taylor said she had earned the same as she had on a series years earlier and received no raise despite four Emmy nominations.

In September 2025, Jon Cryer said his pay as Alan Harper was a third of Charlie Sheen’s. A 2011 Forbes report put Sheen’s salary at $1.9 million per episode.
