Scarlett Johansson said she found her role in The Batman: Part II difficult to understand, describing the experience as emotionally challenging. The actor, who has appeared in Marvel films, told Entertainment Tonight that working on the DC sequel brought “a lot of existential angst.”
“I don’t know why, whether it was just the role or it was just where I am in my life, but it was just hard to crack it,” Johansson said. She added that the part was tough in several ways.
Johansson joined director Matt Reeves’ sequel in May and plays Gilda Dent, the wife of Gotham district attorney Harvey Dent, played by Sebastian Stan. The film follows 2022’s The Batman.
The sequel’s release date has been moved to Feb. 18, 2028. A letter to Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders said filming was set to begin in the spring. Reeves has also shared test images of Robert Pattinson back in the Batman suit, with Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK being transformed into Gotham City.
