Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) reported earnings of $488 million for the three months ending September 30, up from $93 million in the same period a year earlier. The company attributed much of the increase to the box-office performance of *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*.
Adjusted operating income before depreciation and amortization rose to $670.4 million from $183 million in 2025. Revenue reached $3.2 billion, a 37% increase year over year, as theatrical sales grew significantly.
Released at the end of July, *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* set a North American three-day box-office record, surpassing *Avengers: Endgame*, according to the report. It also became the highest-grossing Hollywood film of all time in India and passed $1 billion at the international box office, behind only *Avengers: Endgame* for speed. The film is now the third-highest-grossing movie in history.
A year earlier, SPE recorded $2.3 billion in revenue and $93 million in profit. Across the wider group, Sony reported second-quarter revenue of 3.43 trillion yen, equivalent to $21.5 billion, up 10%. Operating income increased 45% to 622.3 billion yen, or $3.9 billion.
