Impossible Dream Entertainment and UK production company Wall to Wall are developing The Invited, a supernatural mystery thriller series inspired by the ghost-story novels of bestselling author Wendy Webb. Helen Black and Jeff Howard are writing the series, which the companies will also executive produce.

The show will not adapt a single book titled The Invited. Instead, it will draw on Webb’s body of work to create an interconnected haunted world designed to expand across seasons. Season 1 will adapt her novel The End of Temperance Dare. Further details about the adaptation have not been disclosed.

Webb’s novels are set in the fictional historic lakeside town of Wharton. Her other books include The Haunting of Brynn Wilder, Daughters of the Lake and The Witches of Santo Stefano, published in 2024.

Black’s credits include the BAFTA- and International Emmy-nominated Life and Death in the Warehouse, Channel 5’s The Wives and the BBC crime drama Time. Howard has worked with filmmaker Mike Flanagan on projects including The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass and Gerald’s Game.

Impossible Dream Entertainment produced Get Out and BlacKkKlansman, as well as the Netflix film Day Shift. Wall to Wall is part of Warner Bros. International Television Production Group, a Skydance company.
