Johnny Depp says he is open to reprising Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, provided the story is in the right place. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he said his main interest would be helping bring the series to a better ending.
Depp also said he would work with producer Jerry Bruckheimer again, describing their relationship as a deep friendship and saying he trusts him. Bruckheimer previously told Deadline that he and Depp were talking while work continued on a screenplay for a possible sixth Pirates film.
Depp first played Sparrow in 2003’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. He returned for four further films, most recently 2017’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Other projects expanding the franchise are also in development. Bruckheimer told Entertainment Weekly in 2024 that Jeff Nathanson was writing a reboot, while Christina Hodson was working on a film centered on Robbie.
