Simon Pegg, Mark Duplass and Haley Joel Osment are attached to star in “My Phone Died,” a Dark comedy from filmmakers Hannah Leder and Alexandra Kotcheff. Hyde Park International has acquired all international rights to the project ahead of the American Film Market.

The film is scheduled to shoot in spring 2027. Leder and Kotcheff will write and direct, as well as appear in the cast. The project will be produced through their respective companies, Fire Tiger Films and Thank You So Much.

According to the synopsis, smartphones begin exploding around the world, triggering an apocalypse. The story follows several survivors, including a Hollywood agent, an Amish woman, a social media influencer, a pregnant agoraphobic and her stoner mother, as they face the possibility of a new beginning.

Pegg will play Gus, a Hollywood agent who narrowly survives the phone catastrophe. Duplass is set to portray one of Gus’s self-absorbed clients, while Osment will play a recovering alcoholic and social media influencer. Kotcheff will appear as Francis, who leaves her Amish community for Osment’s character, and Leder will play Lillie, an agoraphobic, heavily pregnant aspiring actress.

“My Phone Died” will be Leder and Kotcheff’s second feature as writer-directors after their 2019 indie comedy-drama “The Planters.” Hyde Park International’s Carl Clifton described the new film as humorous, original and warm, while Leder and Kotcheff said they were excited to work with the cast and Hyde Park on a story about technological progress, self-destruction and nostalgia for simpler times.
