Spoilers for VisionQuest Episode 7.

VisionQuest’s seventh episode, “Immolation,” makes a direct connection to Avengers: Infinity War through a weapon familiar to its central character. While trying to save Lisa Molinari from a nanite that is rewriting her brain, Vision and Thomas Shepherd learn that the weapon used by Corvus Glaive can provide the energy Vision needs to access a crucial source code.

The mysterious client who hired Paladin offers Vision that code, which could help save Lisa and answer questions Vision has been pursuing. But using it requires a powerful external energy source. Paladin reveals he has a weapon from Wakanda: Corvus Glaive’s blade, the same weapon that dealt Vision a near-fatal blow in Infinity War.

Glaive, one of Thanos’ trusted generals, used the weapon to pierce Vision while the Black Order pursued the Mind Stone in Scotland. The episode does not explain directly how the blade reached Wakanda. The article points to Avengers: Endgame, where the battlefield left behind after Thanos’ defeat could have provided an opportunity for someone to recover it. It suggests that the weapon may have been taken to Wakanda for study and later repurposed as an energy source.

With the blade’s power, Vision searches within himself for the source code and learns about connections among artificial intelligences in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Dr. Phineas Horton and his creation, Jim Hammond, the original Human Torch.

The weapon also echoes the role of the Infinity Stones in Vision’s history. The Mind Stone first appeared in Loki’s scepter, later became central to the experiments that awakened Wanda and Pietro Maximoff’s powers, and ultimately helped bring Vision into existence in Avengers: Age of Ultron. In VisionQuest, a weapon wielded by one of Thanos’ followers instead helps Vision try to save someone else. The episode ends with the client still awaiting a face-to-face meeting with Vision in the season finale.
