WTFilms has boarded The Dregs, a comedy-thriller about a group of friends who face a deadly curse after drinking a bottle of grappa during a trip to the Italian Alps. The company plans to launch sales of the film at the American Film Market and will present a promotional reel. The film is in post-production after wrapping its shoot in British Columbia earlier this year.
Stephen Lang plays an evil waiter whose bewitched grappa recipe threatens the group one by one. As the survivors dwindle, their attempts to break the curse with witchcraft fail, and they race to outlast the drink and find its mysterious creator.
Maddie Phillips, Charlie Gillespie, Piper Curda, Nava Mau and Shohreh Aghdashloo lead the ensemble cast. Connor Martin, who wrote the screenplay, is making his directorial debut with the film.
The Dregs is produced by Anwar Pictures, Fraulein Filmworks, Microelle, Astral Plane and Rosewood.
